Pinnacle Histopathology Module
|
The PINNACLE Histopathology module offers a complete
range of functions, including biopsy, non-cervical cytology
and autopsy/mortuary processing.
The application software is modern, easy to use and highly
flexible, and was designed by laboratory staff, specifically for
the Histopathology environment, with many user-defined
formats and parameters.
In common with all other PINNACLE modules, the software
is modern, easy to use and highly flexible, with many user-defined
formats and parameters. It has been designed by
laboratory staff and specifically developed to satisfy the
demands now found within the modern Histopathology
laboratory.
|
Patient Database
|
All PINNACLE modules, including Histopathology, are
linked to common patient demographic information using the
power and flexibility of the ORACLE Relational Database
Management System.
|
Request Entry
|
Request entry screen layouts are customised for each
laboratory and they can also be implemented on a centralised
basis.
They are designed for maximum ease of use and for enhanced
productivity, using coded entry wherever possible and
including the capture of any discipline-specific data required
such as the date of death or the allocation of the specific
pathologist responsible for each case.
|
Report Entry
|
Textual data entry, such as the macroscopic and microscopic
reports can be accomplished simply and efficiently using any
combination of basic text entry, coded phrases and templates,
and also through the use of a sophisticated, integrated word-processing
package.
|
Technical Data
|
A range of routines are provided to capture and manage the
technical data associated with the processing of parts, blocks
and slides, with all processes and procedures fully user-defined.
Electron microscopy work can be recorded and slide
label and cassette printing can also be performed.
|
Coding Systems
|
The PINNACLE system supports the use of user-defined
local and national coding systems and phrases, such as the
SNOMED dictionary supplied, enabling subsequent,
comprehensive retrieval and analysis of all pathology data.
Automatic recognition of phrases during the encoding phase
is fully supported with extensive code/phrase search and
selection facilities also provided to enable rapid and accurate
entry of data.
|
Autopsy Processing
|
A range of specific functions are provided to handle Autopsy
processing such as the differentiation between standard and
coroner/fiscal post-mortems, including restricted enquiry
access. In addition, a mortuary register is also available to
assist in the management of the mortuary.
|
Authorisation
|
Flexible authorisation routines allow either on-line
acceptance by the pathologist prior to printing, or reports can
be printed and then authorised on the system following
approval.
|
|
Enquiries
|
Accessible within the Histopathology laboratory, across other
disciplines or to authorised external users, the enquiry
facilities provide fast and secure access to patient result data.
|
Management Information
|
In addition to the standard reports including workload
statistics, data can be analysed and reported upon using a
range of industry-standard SQL tools including the powerful,
data analysis and reporting tools Business Objects and Oracle
Discoverer.
