Pinnacle Microbiology Module

The PINNACLE Microbiology suite of modules including Bacteriology and Virology/Serology, offer a range of facilities to satisfy the demands of a modern laboratory.

Operating in either stand-alone mode or integrated with other PINNACLE modules, the system is modern, easy to use and highly flexible, designed by laboratory staff, specifically for the Microbiology environment, with many user-defined formats, procedures and parameters.

Patient Database

All PINNACLE modules, including Microbiology, are linked to common patient demographic information using the power and flexibility of the ORACLE Relational Database Management System.

Request Entry

Request entry screen layouts are customised for each laboratory and they can also be implemented on a centralised basis. They are designed for maximum ease of use and for enhanced productivity, including the capture of any discipline-specific data required, such as paired sample processing and the allocation of default investigations by sample type.

Result Entry

Results can be entered quickly and efficiently through the use of a range of flexible procedures, including user-defined microscopy and antibiotic sensitivity batteries. Routines for batch entry of negative and positive results are also available.

Worksheets / Worklists

A range of routines are provided to capture and manage the technical data associated with the processing of parts, blocks and slides, with all processes and procedures fully user-defined. Electron microscopy work can be recorded and slide label and cassette printing can also be performed.

Analyser Interfaces

PINNACLE supports a wide range of automated equipment through the use of PC-based software, including both uni- and bi-directional analysers

Suppression / Security of Results

PINNACLE provides both user-defined automatic and manual suppression of results from the final report, such as internal laboratory data or antibiotic sensitivity information. Sensitive data such as HIV results are restricted from normal access, unless users are specifically authorised to view them.

Authorisation

On-line, semi-automatic and fully automatic processing is supported, with easy access to patient history during authorisation.

Results Reporting

Interim and final reports are available, customised to your individual requirements, and including facilities such as multiple report destinations and electronic transmission of results.

Enquiries

Accessible within the Microbiology laboratory, across other disciplines or to authorised external users, the enquiry facilities provide fast and secure access to patient result data.

Comprehensive Reporting and Management Information

PINNACLE data can be analysed and reported upon using a range of industry-standard SQL tools including the powerful, data analysis and reporting tools BusinessObjects and Oracle Discoverer.

These tools, in addition to assisting in laboratory management, can be used to analyse and produce epidemiological and infection control reports, complementing the range of standard outputs including isolate/antibiotic analysis, PHLS and CDSC reporting, and many others.
